Are X-ray examinations safe?

X-rays are a form of ionising radiation and are potentially dangerous.
However, the benefit of the X-ray examination is more important than the estimated risk. Doctors are specially trained to weigh the risks and benefits for each medical examination.

ALARA
We work according to the ALARA principle: As Low As Reasonably Achievable. This means we minimise the radiation doses to keep any potential harm reasonably low.

X-ray doses in perspective
Annual radiation doses higher than 100 mSv are harmful. But you should know that:

  • A normal X-Ray examination is usually lower than 2 mSv
  • A CT scan of the abdomen (belly) delivers 5-10 mSv (sometimes slightly more)

We use state-of-the-art X-ray equipment:

  • Luminos DR X-ray table
  • Mammo DR Inspiration
  • Philips iU22 and Epiq9 ultrasound
  • Hologic 4500 bone densitometry
  • Digital OPG

Information about the delivered radiation doses is stored for any future reference.

How can I pay?

You can pay:

  • Cash
  • With Bancontact / Mister Cash

We do not accept credit cards.
